10" 26cm Crotcha Pan
Based on the Netherton traditional frying pan, the crochta pan has an arched handle with hanging ring and a useful pouring spout. Made from their pre-seasoned spun iron, these are sturdy, but not too heavy.
Originally designed to be used hanging over a fire, these pans are equally at home on the hob.
It is hard to find any history of these pans on the internet, but anecdotal evidence has thrown up several stories of their being used in Norfolk, or their use in so-called blackhouses in the Hebrides as well as Devon, Ireland and as far afield as Hungary. Crochta is the Irish word for hanging.
